The Behringer 173 Quad Gate / Multiples is a fundamental utility module for any Eurorack system, providing an authentic recreation of the essential Roland System-100M 173 module. This space-saving unit combines two indispensable functions: a set of four independent signal gates and two sets of passive multiples. It is designed to be the central hub for routing, switching, and splitting your audio and CV signals, enabling complex patches and precise control over your modular synthesizer.
The top section of the module contains four independent signal gates. These can be thought of as simple on/off switches or basic VCAs that are controlled by a gate or trigger signal. When a gate signal is present at the input, the corresponding audio or CV signal is allowed to pass through to the output. This is perfect for creating rhythmic patterns, routing signals to different destinations based on a trigger, or creating classic trance-gate effects. The bottom section features two passive multiples, each with one input and three outputs. These allow you to take a single signal, such as a clock or a pitch CV from a keyboard, and send identical copies to multiple destinations simultaneously, which is crucial for building complex and synchronized patches.
